Fertility

Question
Hello I was wondering is it possible to be fertile up to a certain age i.e 26 with CF, It's just i've noticed my sperm is different lately compared to the way it was before. Also is there many CF males able to have children naturally? Thank you.

Answer
Hello Mark
Most (least 97% of men) with cystic fibrosis are infertile, but not sterile and can have children with assisted reproductive techniques. Men with CF make normal sperm but are missing the tube , which connects the testes to the ejaculatory ducts of the penis. If you are starting to consider having children you should discuss this with your local CF centre who will provide you with information on your need for and options for treatment.
Good luck
