- Nasal polyps
- Our child (9 years old) has nasal polyps in the right side of the nose. According to the opinion of the ENT-doctor, only in the ethmoidal sinus. The left side is free. For about half a year we are taking a cortisone containing nose spray without achieving a change of the polyps. Now an MRI is going to be done, in order to see everything in more detail compared to the ultrasound, however we have already been told, that it will probably come to an operative resection of the polyps. Are there any alternatives, that we could try before? Many thanks for your answer.

- Can carriers of the CF gene can also have CF-like complaints ?
- My daughter has serious lung problems and after many tests the conclusion is that she does no suffer from cystic fibrosis, but my daughter is a carrier. Can this contribute to her lung problems or is it not part of it ?

- CF or not ?!?!?
- As baby I was tested for CF. Now I’m 36 years. After long considerations and more testing I received the final answer “no” but with obvious hesitation in the physician’s voice. My whole live I’ve been tired, I have mucus, suffer from sinusitis, I always have a cold and I always have a lot of stools. In the end I found a physician who diagnosed mild CF, and there are further investigations being done. I would really like to know whether I have CF or not. Thank you for your answer.

- Our son and daughter-in-law recently had a child with CF. My family is wondering whether it would be sensible that I (grandmother) would investigate whether I’m carrier of the defective gen. They think that by doing so we can avoid further investigations in our large family.

- Hello, In most articles about artificial insemination in CF it is written that methods used are in vitro fertilisation (IVF) or even more likely intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). What about intra-uterine insemination (IUI)? Is this method not feasible for men with CF? Many thanks.

- Decontamination of the bowel in case of antibiotic therapy
- Dear expert team, how can the intestinal flora be maintained in spite of an antibiotic therapy? Is this possible at all? If yes, which substances come into consideration? - Warm water supply and colonisation with Pseudomonas
- Dear experts, From autumn we would like to move to a new apartment with our five year old son. Up to now the course of his disease has been rather mild, apart from occasional (2-3) cross colonisations with Staphylococcus aureus and Haemophilus influenza, which however did not show any symptoms. He did not have PA so far. With regard to the lungs our kid is inconspicuous, the frequency of infection is normal to low. So far our hygiene “catalogue” comprises the general proceeding and have tried to lead a life free of hystery: in the mornings we let the water run a while from the tap, we keep the toilet lid closed, we wash our hands regularly and stay away from standing waters. In our new apartment there will be no tankless instantaneous water heater for the water that we use like we had before, but an 80 litre boiler in the basement, which provides kitchen and bathroom with hot water (about 6 years old). For us it is concrete the question now, if we could life with such a boiler and which measures we have to take (which temperatures in the boiler? Constantly or only at certain times, about 3 times a week?), inorder to avoid the flow-rate with Pseudomonas. Or however, to give up the plan to move in this appartement as a last consequence.... Many thanks for your information (please as soon as possible as the leasing contract should be signed until the end of july).
