Moderate CF

Question
Is moderate cystic fibrosis susceptible to deteriorate ?
Answer
Hello,
Although there are patients diagnosed with moderate cystic fibrosis, depending on the class of mutation and the organs expressing the disease, each case of Cystic Fibrosis is unique.
Presentation of the disease may be different, when symptoms declare lately, or when there is pancreatic sufficiency (ie: no need to take pancreatic enzymes to digest lipids).
Nevertheless cystic fibrosis is a progressive disease, and even in moderate types of cystic fibrosis, regular follow up in specialized CF centre is necessary (one to 4 times a year depending on symptoms), to preserve at best health and intervene as soon as possible in case of clinical or biological manifestations.
I hope it answers your question.
Sincerely,
Dr Sophie Ravilly
