Are fountains a threat to our CF children? Sometimes when you walk in the summer, wind containing water can come to us, should we remove our children?
Can our children also be at the side of fountains safely?

I will try to answer your question as simply as possible.
There is a priori no danger of contamination for your children with cystic fibrosis near a fountain outdoors!
In case of aerosol droplets of water from the fountain, it is simply advised to avoid prolonged exposure time in order not to inhale these droplets because the water is surely untreated.
But there are no studies to my knowledge or cases of bacterial colonization associated with outdoor fountains.
