Dornase alpha
- Question
- How is dornase alpha prepared or made? I have read that it is recombinant dna but from which cells is it taken?
- Answer
- Dear questioner,
after contacting the pharmaceutical company Roche producing Pulmozyme® I can provide you with the following information: the product contains the human enzyme dornase alpha. Genetic information for human dornase alpha its transferred to cells from the ovaries of the Chinese hamster A 14,16 – 1 MSB #757, that produce in the sequel human Desoxyribonuclease I or recombinant dornase alpha. This method is called recombinant DNA-technology.
Hope to have answered your question,
