Result of ionotophoresis (sweat test)

Question
I have a 13 year and 9 months old child.
He had the first iontophoresis test and the result was 78 mmol / l NaCl, but he was in treatment with nebulized fluticasone fl/2/day.
In November 2013 the sweat test was repeated, one month after he ended the treatment with aerosols and the result was 36 mmol / l NaCl.
What do I have to do next? What steps do I have to follow?
Sincerely,
C's mother
Answer
Hello,
From your question, it appears that there have been made two sweat tests and one was positive. Sweat test is influenced by several factors, including corticosteroids. We suppose that the tests was performed because of a suspicion of CF, in the context of clinical symptoms and suggestive clinical signs. If the suspicion of cystic fibrosis persists, it is recommended to repeat the sweat test and a genetic test can be also indicated.
If we can be helpful please do not hesitate to contact us.
