Therapy
I've got a few questions: My daughter is 12 years old, diagnosed with CF at 4 months of age. She's got isolated from spitum bacteria P. aeruginosa for 2 years and a half. Since then she's been ill more often and was treated by IV antibiotics (5 hospital stays from June 2007 till June 2008 In between the hospitalizations she was on oral antibiotics also), to clear the lungs infection. A month ago they found in spitum the bacteria - Acinetobacter. Is it good to try therapy by Colistin inhalatory antibiotic? What is the standard protocol for it? What is the treatment protocol with both inhalatory antibiotics - Colistin and и Tobi 300mg/5ml (tobramycin)? Is it better to take them both? Or shall we switch between them and in what time with what pause? What follow-up tests must be run to see the effect? We haven't tried yet none of these two antibiotics. Thank you! Wish you health and luck! Svetlana Atanasova - Bulgarian email: atanasova.1972@abv.bg ; SKYPE: kreizi1972

Experience with treatment in China?
Dear expert team members, I believe that your experiences could help me to choose the right sources of information. Have you ever heard something interesting about Chinese medicin methods particularly physiotherapy methods focused on CF patients? Could you recomend any realated information sources please? I am interested to check the posibility to support our regular CF treatment by systematic exercising and herbal therapy. Possibly with something else. Thank you very much Roman Krapka

CF
I am an ex UU physio graduate presently working in an acute hospital in Suffolk. I am treating a teenager with Cystic Fibrosis. The patient has reached the stage where they have become quite depressed about their life expectancy and the limitations they think it may have on their life and now resisting physio. The patient's lung functions have deteriorated a little, however, not as much as the patient perceives. I think it would be beneficial to have an objective outcome measure for the patient in an exercise environment, not just facts on a graph. I remember when I was at UU you were working on the Modified Shuttle Test for this patient group! I was wondering where I could gain a copy of this and the supporting information for it? Any guidance you could give would be very much appreciated! Kind regards Serena

Piperacillin Allergy
Would you recommend desensitisation in a 16 year old boy who has had a generalised itchy erythematous reaction to piperacillin on 2 occasions? He currently has an exacerbation & is now growing 2 stains of pseudomonas both sensitive to pip but one resistent to gent and both resistent to cipro. He has recently had ceftaz gent. If so can you recommend a regime? I have just registered but can't seem to log on Many thanks Keith Foote keithfoote@doctors.org.uk

CF patient
CF patient, 19 years old, diagnosed with CF as a baby and has staphyloccus aureus. Diagnosed with pseudomonas a few months ago. My question is: should the patient take tobramicina, as when he was last tested for bacteria and had sputum taken, he did not have pseudomonas any more. Can pseudomonas disappear or the test was not done properly? Thank you. Mira Zdravkovic

ABPA
How important is antifungic treatment in ABPA (voriko)? Is it more beneficial for the outcome if it is added to steroid treatment? How do you monitor outcome/relapses of ABPA?
