- Coughing
- My 10 years old CF son has strong coughs that could last 3-4 hours in a raw. He says that it scratches his throat; I think that it might be an irritating cough? What could we do? As he must not take syrup, I tried honey but with no improvement. It tires him a lot! Thanks!

- Bronchiolotis and sweat test
- I have a son who is 8 months old. He has been hospitalized for bronchiolitis at the age of three months and a month ago suffered a second bronchiolitis which was treated with salbutamol and fluticason. He has a permanent cough since he was born. When he was three months old he had diarrhea, which was treated with a special milk and cream – almiron pepti® mct and sinlac® cream. I think his sweat is very salty. We did the sweat test three times, two at Penteli Paediatric Hospital, where five tenths instead of the required six tenths were collected, with results 44 & 38, and one test at Aghia Sofia Hospital with a result of 30,4. I did a genetic testing at Horemio Laboratory for 95% of the CF mutations with negative results, with the exception of three changes in the gene sequence which were characterized without pathological consequences. My husband was checked at Laiko Hospital for 80% of the mutations with negative results as well. Despite all this, I am still worried, mainly due to the borderline first sweat test, but also due to the symptoms of the child. I would like to know, based on the above data, if it is possible for my child to suffer from CF, and if there is any further test we could do. Thank you in advance.

- Hello, What motivates the prescription of aerosols? Age (e.g. from 3 years)? Are they prescribed as a preventive or curative treatment? Or both? Thank you for your answer.

- Hello, My one year old son has cystic fibrosis, and I have a question about white vinegar. I use it a lot in maintaining my house, including cleaning my refrigerator or even taps. I would like to know if it was really effective as antimicrobial agent? Of course I also use bleach in all my other siphons and showers once a week. Thank you in advance.

- Are there clinical studies about using the pari-sinus with CF with principally sinusitis problems? Is there somebody with experience with the pari-sinus?

- Pseudomonas and wind instruments
- My daughter would like to learn one of the following instruments: flute (German flute), saxophone, clarinet, horn, trumpet. We are worried that a water bug (Pseudomonas) could colonize the instrument since these instruments cannot be cleaned very well. Is one of the instruments more suitable than another against this background? Are there further aspects that should be considered when choosing an instrument?

- Why does my son get sickly pale in the face for periods of several weeks?
- My 11-year-old son, who has CF, becomes from time to time sickly pale in the face and the pallour can last several weeks. He also gets dark circles under his eyes. This happens maybe once in a year or two years. The symptoms gradually vanish. I've googled this in various CF forums and noticed that others also have these symptoms but I could not find any explanation for their cause. My son's lung function is good, his weight is normal and he has no vitamin deficiencies. These episodes do not seem to be related to anything respiratory, but they are worrying because he looks quite unwell. Is it possible to explain what causes these symptoms? It would be great if there was a way to treat or prevent them. Thank you for your help.
