Birdcage in the house?
My daughter, 7 years old with mild CF, would like to have a parakeet, who would inevitably be living in the house (probably in the hallway). Is this hygienically justifiable? We already have a dog, which is no problem. But birds have a reputation of not being not exactly clean... and I am worried about possible germs. Many thanks.

flu vaccination
Is it important to have your child with CF vaccinated against flu? Is there any danger in administrating the flu vaccination (does it possibly contain dangerous substances f.i. antifreeze). Many people do not favor flu vaccination. Which considerations should I make.

Menopause
Dear doctor, I’m a woman 40 years of age and I have cystic fibrosis. I used to have my menses every 28 days, but recently they came less often and then now I do have my menses just after 2 weeks again. Is this the beginning of menopause? Do patients with CF have an earlier menopause? Thanks and kind regards, CF patient

Our daughter has CF. there are black fungus spots in our garden house. Do these pose a danger for our daughter.

Dear expert team, many thanks for answering so quickly. Because of the colonization with P.a. I take Azithromycin 250mg every other day as long-term therapy. I also inhale Colistin and DNAse. According to your description, it seems one should be careful here and probably pause Azithromycin? S.

problems with adhesive bandages
Hello, CF patients present two types of problems with conventional sticking plaster: - Allergy - Adhesion problems due to perspiration. Could you advise us which adhesive bandage are really suited for each problem? Moreover, in our hospital, this problem is unknown from the staff and the anesthesiologists. Is there a document that contains such information, to inform professionals in case of hospitalization or a pre-anesthesia visit? Thank you in advance for your response. Cordially.

Hello, does the diagnosis of a diabetes requiring treatment with oral anti-diabetic medication in adulthood invariably lead to a deterioration of health (especially regarding lung function and FEV1) even if the diabetes is correctly controlled?

Pending diagnosis
Hello, Following two semen analyzes showing azoospermia, I performed a testicular ultrasound which revealed bilateral absence of the vas deferens and a genetic analysis of the CFTR gene. I received the first "transient" results indicating that I carry the F508del mutation. My blood sample has been sent to a second laboratory to search for rare mutations. Do I necessarily carry a second mutation on the other allele? Is it also possible for me to carry a mutation that could not be detected by the current techniques of genetic analysis?

Clinical classification of mutation R75Q
Dear expert team, the mutation R75Q (c.224G>A; p.Arg75Gön) was described as a sequence variation by Tussi et al. in 1992. Newer publications from about 2004 onwards speak of a variant that is associated with a CF-like phenotype, but they rule out the possibility that classic CF can be formed on the second allele in connection with a classic CF mutation. What are your experiences with carriers of this mutation? Many thanks for your answer.

Keratoconjunctivitis (sicca)
Dear expert team, I would like to ask you whether there are any treatment options concerning the above diagnosis. I.e., are CF clinics specialized on giving advice? I really suffer from this sicca syndrome (CF patient, 45 years old). I have already tried a lot of different eye drops. My ophthalmologist says one can only keep trying. Is it possible to determine which eye drops I could take? Kind regards.
