Blood in stool: Dear expert team, Since three days my son has blood in the stool. He stopped taking ACC® (Acetylcystein) and almost does not eat anything in order to relieve the bowel. Do you think this is necessary? Many thanks for your efforts.; 16.04.2010

Anaemia: My son was diagnosed severe CF form from birth. A few times he was at ICU for ventilation. Now he is 1 year old, very active, his weight is 8,650 kg, but was some suspicion that he has anemia. We used some iron preparations (feroglobine) as well as apple or beetroot juice. Eye cataract: Dear expert team, I would like to know if there are other cases where a CF patient also developped an eye cataract for whatever reason (cortisone, IV therapy, etc.). I am 19 years old and I have had both lenses removed within the last half year; I received artificial lenses because the cataract had worsened that much. Is a saline grotto beneficial for a CF child?: Dear experts, A saline grotto opened close to where we live [a link with further German information was given]. Our CF child (6) has problems with the upper airways, the nose is never completely clear despite inhalation with Pari Sinus and nasal wash (nasal polyps are not that big; an operation is not planned). So far, we have been to the grotto once and it was a very positive experience for our child; the nose was almost clear. genetics: In my 5-month-old daughter CF was diagnosed and mutations 3849+10kbC>T/2143delT were detected. I can't find any information about the second mutation. So far my daughter has no symptoms. inhalers: Hello, I would like to buy for my child a portable inhaler, which of the inhlares accessible in the market is good for CF patients? I admit, that I wouldn't like to buy a very expensive inhaler. The child is 9-year-old and has hypertonic salt and pulmozyme inhalations.; 14.04.2010

drainage methods: Hello, I would like to ask, which drainage techniques can be used in a 9-year-old child to make the child more self-dependent. I have to add, that the child cooperates well, does not expectorate a lot of secretion even during exacerbation periods. Currently we perform bronchial drainage in different positions and compression.; 14.04.2010

Humidity in the bathroom: Dear expert team, we are currently looking for a rented apartment and have realized that only very few of those offered come with a window in the bathroom/toilet. Since our 12-year-old son has chronic PSA, this has been a knock-out criterion for us up to now (the possibility to air the bathroom by opening a window has been a priority). Are there any reliable air exhaust options (possibly to be added retroactively) that could solve the humidity problem in a windowless bathroom? Which qualified companies would be the right contacts? MRSA: Hi Muko-team, We have friends with a daughter who suffered from CF and died. She harboured MRSA! My parents have close contact with her parents after the death of the daughter and I fear that MRSA can also contaminate me, who has also CF. Is such a contamination possible?
