- Suspicion of CF
- Hello, a sweat test had been done to my child (10 years). The result was 61. The doctor did now perform a test of the blood, which does however not point at CF, but he wants to redo the sweat test in 2 weeks. He has asked several questions, which we acutally can answer negatively, e.g. if there are any problems with the weight or thriving. Now I am a bit confused, can the special blood test exclude CF for a 100%? Many thanks for your answer

- Hello, This autumn it is planned to have my daughter (5 years old) vaccinated against the regular influenza for the first time. I read that in South Tyrol (where we live) 200000 vaccines against swine flu will be available, risk patients being preferred. Should I have my daughter vaccinated against swine flu as well? How well is this vaccine researched, with which side effects one has to anticipate? According to the media the symptoms seem to be similar to those of a regular flu. Isn’t it exaggerated to vaccinate so many persons? Many thanks

- Elimination of Pseudomonas in the pool by adding chlorine?
- Hello, My sister in law has her own pool. It is hardly chlorinated or rather unchlorinated. Now I am thinking that probably Pseudomonas can be found in the pool. Is it possible to eliminate it by adding chlorine only once? Or does it stay in the pool and my son, 7 cf, should therefore stay outside of the pool? Many thanks

- Dear expert team, There are promising new medicaments for the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis in the drug development pipeline, among these, substances of Vertex. Just in case these drugs will be approved, how likely is it in your opinion that these Vertex substances (and others like Denufosol and Moli) will be approved in the US earlier than in Germany? - Can colloidal silver be used in the fight of bacteria in case of CF and can it also be inhaled?

- Coffee machine
- Dear expert team, how is it with coffee machines, that have a water tank, e.g. Senseo, Dolce Gusto...? Is the coffee in spite of heating contaminated with bacteria, e.g. Pseudomonas or is it drinkable without problems for patients with CF? We have such a machine in the company and sometimes the water stays for several hours and I have worries if I could get infected with it. Many greetings

- Pain in the region of the heart
- Dear expert team, for one month now, I have very strong, cramping pain in the region of the heart, so that I am not able to breathe really deeply anymore. A check at the cardiologist did not show any conspicuities. The CF-center is of the opinion that it has to come from the lung. What can I do against it, in order to get rid of the pain? - Dear expert team, as I am thinking of going on holiday in Egypt as a CF patient, the following questions: 1. Which areas in Egypt do you recommend? 2. Which precautions are necessary before the holiday (vaccinations etc.?) 3. Which CF centers are there in Egypt? 4. Are in Egypt in case of need drugs available via pharmacies without problems? 5. Which kind of accomodation, also from the hygiene point of view, do you recommend (hotel? appartment? etc). I will be happy to hear from you

- Dear expert team, my son (1 year, CF) has once more Staphylococci in the throat swab and has been treated with antibiotics for this several times. My question is, where this germ can be found, as we do really have a look at the hygiene, I ask myself where he gets the germ all the time? Or can it be that some humans are just more susceptible for it than others? Many greetings,
