- Pregnancy with CF
- Dear expert team, many thanks for your numerous helpful clues you have already given! Especially I want to confirm your assumption, that oral mucolytics (e.g. acetylcysteine) could have a negative influence in case of wishing to have a baby: in december, after many years of (almost) continous intaking of acetylcysteine, I had no drug anymore and I "missed" to get a prescription for 3 months. In the meantime I am pregnant in the second month! The assumption seems sensible that there is a connection, especially as we tried to get pregnant 2 years ago without sucess (even with insemination). Probably you could give this tip to other couples who wish to have a baby. Yours sincerely,

- CF and also allergy
- From my teaching in school, I come up with the following question: can CF occur in combination with allergy for instance, allergy for nuts. If yes, where can I find more information about this? Thank you very much.

- Bleeding of the lungs and flying
- Hello. A few years ago I had a severe bleeding of the lung, that had been "repaired" via 2 embolizations. Now my question: Do longterm flights facilitate bleedings of the lung (saturation about 95%)? Many thanks for your efforts.

- Upper airways
- Dear expert team, our daughter (4.5 years, CF) has mainly problems with the upper airways. Last december, the adenoids have been operated. When she has a rhinitis, this lasts for weeks (in spite of Cefuroxim TS, a herbal expectorant and nose shower). What else can we do to make it easier for her? We have the impression, that the rhinitis is going to be better in between and then worsening again. Decongestant nose drops should only be given for a short time. We fear a worsening of the ventilation of the lungs due to the long times of rhinitis. Many thanks in advance!

- CFTR gene
- Hello, in my husband, the CFTR-mutation R553X has been diagnosed heterozygous. In order to exclude a CF at our daughter, a sequence analysis of the CFTR gene had been done to her. The CFTR-mutation p.R553X has been detected heterozyogous, a second mutation could not be detected fortunately. And now to my question: Is the mutation R553X of my husband and the mutation p.R553X of my daughter the same one? Many thanks in advance!

- Heredity
- My grandparents had 6 children in total, 3 boys and 3 girls. All 3 girls died shortly after birth (max. 3 weeks). My grandmother cannot tell me how these children died, but ‘something was said about an enlarged pancreas’, and it was also said that it was only by chance that all 3 girls had died. At present, my father and my grandmother both have adult-onset diabetes. This disorder also has to do with the pancreas. That is why I wonder whether there was something genetic going on? I came across CF and I thought maybe these girls died from that disease; what do you think?
