Innovative allied health roles in management of children & adolsencents with CF
I am seeking information or examples of innovative allied health services or roles from health professionals working in cystic fibrosis (children 0-18 years including transition to adult services). In particular, I am interested in information or examples about allied health professionals working in extended roles i.e prescribing/diagnostics, allied health led primary health programs or delegation of roles to allied health assistants or technical workforce. Lung disease?
Good afternoon, I need very much answer to my question, since I am about to be madden due to thinking and searching for the information…nearly one year ago I started with phlegm, episodically I expectorated sputum of different kind, 3-6 times per day approximately with volume of dinner spoon, sometimes green sometimes yellow, sometimes white, and sometimes green sputum…I was examined by tuberculosis specialists, ENT, family physician, examined my sputum, X-ray examination of the chest and facial sinuses, but no pathology was found, except swollen nasal mucosa and enhanced X-ray. I should add that I have allergic asthma and rhinitis, however now is remission of rhinitis, I just sneeze and I am snotty-nosed on morning time yet? I used Amoxicillinum six days, but not help too…maybe I have less sputum, however than I stopped all the same…maybe I have COPD, but I have no breathlessness…or may be I have no breathlessness because I use seretide? Overall I am quite well, but phlegm very exhausted me, it often passes me into uncomfortable circumstances especially than I have to speak with auditorium…but my voice is stuttered or mouth is full of phlegm nor to swallow nor to expectorate: (is it mycoplasma? maybe I have examined it? Or maybe it is due to seretide since lungs are always dilated? (I use 25/50 one inhalation two times per day) I can not sleep per nights due to anxiety what is with me…I am 24 years old. No smoke no drink alcohol at all. Thank you for help…

Sweat chlorides
Hello, I would like to ask about the factors which could influence the chloride measurements in CF. My child had the chloride test twice because we had to go to the hospital twice for pneumonia, and the results were 37 and the second was 47. He has no symptoms; even the second pneumonia was due to the fact that the first one was not treated properly. He is two months old, is very lively, eats well, and does not taste salty. We will go to Bratislava for a repeat of the tests. Could he have CF despite all this? What are the factors that influence this test? Thank you

Chronification of PsA
Dear Expert Team, first of all, many thanks for your answer to our previous question, on how to deal with PsA antibodies. Could you please briefly explain to me the process leading to chronic colonization with Pseudomonas Aeruginosa? It somehow seems like there are differing definitions… What parameters are necessary? And what is the approximate time span during which PsA becomes chronic if one has gotten maximum therapy early on? How does one explain the fact that there is not a single patient under 18 years of age with chronic PsA in Denmark, whereas in Germany many children already have it? Thank you for your answer.

nutrition and sports
My 11 year old son with CF is involved in a lot of sports: intensive hockey training (1,5 to 2 hours, 3 times a week), hockey competition of 1,5 hours and 2 times 1 hour tennis training a week. His trainer mentioned recently that he was “empty” at the end of the competition, there were no signs of breath shortage, but he had no energy left. His lung function tests are positive until now and he uses pancreatic enzymes (Creon), vitames en antibiotics (cotrimoxazol); no other medication. My question is: is extra nutrition needed, such as supplements or salt (e.g. chips), during breaks ? Is his limited fat mass a symptom of his ‘emptiness’?

CF Diagnosis
Hello, My son will be 6 months. He is thriving (7,75 kg, cca 70 cm) but has had runny stool (no diets make it better), with phlegm, sometimes oily, like greasy mud. He suffers from stomach pains during nursing and feeding (more cramps earlier, now on Lefax so the problems have subsided a bit). He could not be fully nursed and was additionaly fed by Nutrilon, nowadays mostly. He had some blood in his stool once. He seems to have a salty sweat but I have no way to compare it. His pediatrician does not see anything unusual on his stomach problems, she thinks that it is caused by the formula, but I worry. Sometimes my son coughs a bit, but nothing significant. He went throught infection connected with cough once. No CF in the family, no tests done. I suffer from juvenile chronic arthritis (without any significant problems and currently on no medication) and my husband has a lower thyroid gland function and on his side of the family there are problems connected to thyroid gland. Should I consider the CF test? How is it done? Is hospitalisation necessary? Thank you for your answer.

Salty body
I am 58 years old. About two years I have awfully salty body. Even in my eyebrows, I have salt crystals.
