Ciprofloxacin against Staphylococcus aureus
Hello, my daughter is 7-years-old and had in February the first finding of Pseudomonas. Therefore she inhaled 2 cycles of Tobramycin, after that, it still remained there, so that an i.v. therapy with ceftazidim and tobramycin has been done. Now she has to inhale for one year with colistin. Now the Pseudomonas can not be detected anymore, but a Staphylococcus aureus. It had been treated for four weeks with cefuroxim, now she is told to take every three months ciprofloxacin in addition to colistin with the message, that this would also fight the Staph aureus. In the antibiogram it is not listed and this is not the classical substance, or not?? Does ciprofloxacin has an effect on Staph aureus? Many thanks for your advice. She is taking ciprofloxacin for 5 days now. I am worrying that the Staph becomes an MRSA if it is not fought sufficiently or with a wrong substance. V.m.

Pseudomonas - inhalation with gentamycin
Hello dear expert team, Pseudomonas has been found in my samples. Therefore I am told to inhale for 3 months with gentamycin (mixture of gentamycin and NaCl solution). For this I got gentamycin solution for i.v. application. Can one indeed inhale this i.v. solution? Nothing is said about this in the leaflet. Is this kind of therapy advisable from your standpoint respectively successful? Many thanks for your advice!

Staphylococcus
Hello Are there cases of CF patients who, without medical help (antibiotics) were able to eradicate germs such as staphylococcus sensitive to antibiotics? I ask this because my 13-months-old CF child has so far avoided the use of antibiotics against Haemophilus and E.coli that he has eradicated without antibiotics. Also I wonder if this can happen with a Staphylococcus germ or is it too intrusive to be discharged without medical help?

Aspergillus and Sporanox®
Hello, My daughter had Sporanox® (itraconazole) for 1 year to treat the presence of Aspergillus (blood). The last two months, she showed allergic reactions to this treatment (swelling of the face, loss of hair) that required treatment discontinuation. Last mycology sputum identified the presence of aspergillus and incidental manifestations reappear again: tingling of the bronchi, wheezing, bonchospasms .... There is a priori no substitute for Sporanox®. Have you alternatives to offer and / or suggestions? With many thanks.

Influenza vaccine
Hello, I am a single mother of a CF little boy (3 years old). I wanted to know if the new spouse of the father of my child and her daughter also have to be vaccinated against influenza because his father will benefit from joint custody every 2 weeks. And what about my own new husband?

Maternity visit
Hello, I am already pregnant and mother of a little boy with cystic fibrosis; I wish to know if there were risks for him to come to see me in the maternity where his little brother will be born or if it is better to wait for the return at home (which would enormously grieve me). If there is no problem, are there any special precautions to take? Thank you for your answer in advance.

Substitution of vitamins
Hello dear expert team, at the moment one can read in the press, that vitamin tablets respectively antioxidants could have a damaging effect, especially in cancer patients. I (CF patient, female, 38) ask myself, if I should go on taking my vitamin tablets. Could there be a connection between the increased cancer risk in CF patients and the pemanent intake of vitamins? If the serum levels of vitamins are in the normal range, should vitamins be substituted in spite of this (especially fat soluble ones), taking the new knowledge into account? Many thanks for your answer in advance.

3 MRGN in case of CF and fellows
Hello, I (CF) have a chronic colonization with germs as most CF patients have. One of the germs is 3 MRGN and from time to time there occurs another one that is at least 3 MRGN or even 4 MRGN. In general, one separates ill people, old people, children and pregnant women from patients with these problematic germs. Are CF patients therefore a risk for those groups or is the situation different, as it deals with a colonization within the body and therefore the germ can only be found in the sputum, which is not accessible for other people. Many thanks for your support
