- Hello, I heard about serrapeptase which could be effective for the symptoms of cystic fibrosis. I would like to have some information about this enzyme: could it improve the everyday life of my 3-year-old CF daughter? Has this enzyme got any side effects? - Rhinitis and antibiotics
- Hello, my 3-year-old son with CF has a rhinitis for 4 or 5 days; since yesterday, cough became productive, while the nose dries. He also began yesterday to inhale with Pulmozyme® (rh-DNAse). During the physiotherapy session yesterday, the physiotherapist got a little sputum, but from nose, not from bronchi. My son has physiotherapy twice a week, and no fever and no loss of appetite or special fatigue. Is it necessary to put him on antibiotics or to increase physicotherapy sessions? Or should we wait to see if the rhinitis stops? Thank you in advance.

- Hello, Our team was questioned by 2 families: their CF children are schooled in the same middle school (college, but different levels & classrooms) and they frequently - at the rate of 2 hours in sequence (1 - 2 times / week) - attend a lab of biology (about 20 m2) with presence of 3 medium-sized freshwater aquariums. The maintenance does not seem to be made regularly. Is there a real and higher risk compared to the usual risk of Pseudomonas contamination in the environment? Thank you in advance

Why do you propose a change specifically after antibiotic treatment? For children who are in continuous antibiotic therapy, is a monthly change enough? Thank you in advance,

- Hello, We learned one month after birth that our 4 months-old daughter was diagnosed with CF. She carries the DF508 and G3272-26A mutations. She is followed up every month at the CF Center X, has respiratory physiotherapy every day and is currently pancreatic sufficient. My question is, we just learned that she has already Staphylococcus aureus. She was then put under Augmentin for 15 days + physiotherapy twice a day. In the last sputum culture, they have become "rare "but there are traces of Stenotrophomonas maltothilia quantity" rare "also. What’s this bacterium? We were told that it was a bit like Pseudomonas, however, we are taking all precautions regarding stagnant water etc ... The pulmonologist has been very evasive about this bacteria ... How does it work. She will have it for life? Is it serious? I saw that it was resistant to antibiotics ... She has no particular symptoms for the moment ... We are a bit helpless ... Thank you

- Hello I’d like to know what is better in a room for a child with cystic fibrosis: carpet or linoleum like plastic soil? And I'd would like to know if it's dangerous to pick mushrooms in the forest with the Pseudomonas or other bacteria present in the ground and moisture? Thank you
