Question

My son (19 years old) suffers from CF since birth, including cirrhosis of the liver, pancreatic insufficiency, since 2002 diabetes - still on tablets - colonization with Pseudomonas, since 2006 colonization with Burkholderia cepacia - 2-3 times a year i.v. therapy.
In September 2006 he started a training from the job center in Berchtesgarden (Germany). There he had to quit the training in december 07 because he was considered highly infectious for the other young persons. Does that mean as a consequence that he will not be able to take part in any training?
Are there any regulations or conditions from the insurances?

In case of colonization with specific germs, that mean an infectious risk for other CF patients (!), unfortunately a seperation has to be done. In that specific case even the termination of the training.
Treatment facilities (hospitals, rehabilitation clinics) orientate themselves to their hygienic instructions, in order to protect other patients.
This does however not mean, that there is no possibility of doing a training. You should contact the job center that is responsible for you, in order to get a new possiblity of doing a training, where there is no contact to other CF-patients (for other persons, not suffering from CF, there is no risk of infection). In that sepcific case an individual solution has to be found.

The job center in Berchtesgarten is a special training centre for people with lung diseases who can receive a training in various professions as inpatients in that centre while being treated for their disease.
