High-calory additional food

Question
Is it correct from the medical and nutritional standpoint that CF patients replace the usual meals with wholefood by the "intake" of high calory additional food?
Answer
Hello,
we did ask your dietician (university hospital of Frankfurt), Mrs Ellen Althaus, and received the following answer:
"CF patients should always try at first to cover their calory needs with a high-calory, wholefood nutrition. Only in case this is not warranted, additional drinking nourishment should be utilized. Drinking nourishment should always be taken in addition and should not replace the normal meals, unless there is a medical reason, why a normal oral nutrition is not possible."

Yours sincerely,
