- Can I keep a guinea pig as a pet? I have CF and I´m afraid that I might get infected.

- Hello,
Guinea pigs haven´t been proven to carry any risky pathogens, or bacteria dangerous to CF patients, such as pseudomonas aeruginosa.
A guinea pig therefore shouldn´t present any serious danger of infection if it's kept clean. It isn't advisable to lick the animal and it is important to maintain common hygienic habits including regular hand washing.
