Lung rupture

Question
I have a question: if one has a lung rupture (pneumothorax), is this treated with surgery? And if the surgery has been performed, is it possible that one is getting a tube?

Is it normal to be released from the hospital the day after surgery?

And if one then has problems breathing, is it true that this is from the hole caused by the tube?
Answer
Hello,

If I understand your question correctly, I can confirm that surgery is among the important and correct therapy options for pneumothorax.

Typically, after such surgery, a tube (drainage) is applied. In most cases, the patient can be released from the hospital as soon as it is removed.

Unfortunately, it is possible for pain to occur in the area of the surgery wound/scar or also around the entrance wound of the tube, which, however, will get better soon.
