pancreas

Question
I just had the result of elastase in the stool : 461μg / g stool.
Does it mean that I have a problem concerning the pancreas?
M.
Answer
Hello,
The measurement of faecal elastase, which is a pancreatic enzyme, is a method to assess pancreatic function. A fecal elastase above 200μg / g reflects an exocrin pancreatic sufficiency. In your situation, elastase is quite normal, indicating that your pancreas produces pancreatic enzymes for the digestion.
