Pseudomonas vaccine
- Question
- Hello, I am the mother of a seven and half months old CF baby. Today my baby is well. I have heard about clinical trials for Pseudomonas vaccine. What is the development stage? What are the results about these trials?
In advance thank.
- Answer
- Hello,
Two clinical trials regarding a vaccine against pseudomonas have been performed:
- KV9909 study done by Berna has been stopped in 2006. This trial had started in 2001, 476 patients (299 in France) have been included. The analysis of the results has shown no benefit on colonization or chronic infection by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) for patients receiving the vaccine
- a study coordinated by the European Cystic Fibrosis Society (ECFS) in which 486 patients have been included, has ended in 2002. The results did not allow to conclude this vaccine was beneficial against PA.
