My 4-year-old daughter would like to practice pottery. I wonder if the earth loam is not holder of germs? Should she wear a mask? Thank you in advance

your question is interesting and deserves some thaughts.
I did not find in the literature definite answers to your question.
But it is obvious that there are microbes in the earth (including in the earth loam) but no more than in our environment.
To allow the numerous advantages of this manual activity, it seems logic to me to allow the pottery with a good hygiene of hands before and after the session, and to avoid that the earth is carried in the mouth.
The mask is not useful because the earth is humid.
