Medical test ASO

Question
What is ASO?
Answer
Dear questioner,

Out of context, it could be difficult to find the exact meaning of an abbreviation.

However, in the medical field, the term "ASO" (or "ASLO") refers, a priori, to the determination of Anti-StreptoLysines O (anti-streptococcal antibodies). The dosage of these antibodies allows to assert the streptococcal origin of various infections.

This abbreviation can also designate a method of DNA analysis: the ASO technique (for Allele Specific Oligonucleotide). It consist in detecting the presence or absence of a point mutation to determine unambiguously the genotype of the patient to the location of this mutation.

Hoping to have answered your question.
Sincerely,
Laetitia Guéganton
