Ionisator

Question
Dear expert team,
do you have any experience with devices for ionisation of the room air? The improvment of room air quality is for sure advantageous for CF patients?
Many thanks
Answer
Hello,
an advantageous effect of air-ionisation could not have been proven. In contrast, there are indeed harmful side effects known, that can partly lead to worsening of the lung function (development of ozone with worsening of asthma symptoms).
You can however do a lot of things for improvment of the room air, without bying expensive devices: regular rush airing, regular removal of dust (to vacuum or wipe); in moist rooms usage of an exhaust fan and many more little things.
It is also important to think about the avoidance of dust catchers (carpets, curtains, upholstery).
Yours sincerely,
Prof. Dr. TOF Wagner
