Swimming with Pseudomonas

Question
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
can a CF patient go swimming in a pool if he has Pseudomonas?
Thanks and best regards,
Answer
Dear questioner,
for patients with CF whose airways are not colonized with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, it is rather problematic to go swimming. As the germ loves to stay in humid environment and therefore also in water. In case the water is chlorinated, the germ is killed. In case you are already colonized with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, you are having already contact with the germ. Therefore this danger does not exist anymore.
