Thorat swab Enterobacter cloacae

Question
Hello,
I, female, 44 years old, have the following infection of the throat (throat swab):
1. Enterobacter cloacae
2. Serratia marcescens

Antibiotic sensitivity has been done in the laboratory. Possible are ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin and moxifloxacin.
I have absoultely no symptoms, however a mitral valve insufficiency and a tricuspidal valve insufficiency (risk of endocarditis).
Furthermore, often an increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate (20/40), that differs.
Question: Is an antibiotic therapy sensible for me?
Mank thanks in advance,
M.
Answer
Dear M.,
you turn to us, the CF expert team, but we cannot conclude from your question, if you are suffering from CF? If we assume this, one could say, that in general, the finding of both germs in a throat swab without any other symptoms, does not require necessarily an antibiotic therapy. Information, that you provide about your illness, is not sufficient in order to be able to make a medical recommendation. For this, the physician has to know his patient, his course of the illness and all his results in detail, this is not possible via the internet.
Concerning the risk of endocarditis it can be said in your case, that according to the new paper "prophylaxis of infectious endocarditis", that has been worked out and published by the German Society for cardiology together with the Paul-Ehrlich institute and in cooperation with 16 other medical associations from Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as with the German heart foundation, not all, but only so-called high risk patients, should receive an endocarditis prophylaxis. If you count in the group of high risk patients, we cannot judge according to the information you give. The question about an antibiotic prophylaxis in correlation with the heart valve insufficiency has to be discussed with your cardiologist.
Best regards,
Yours,
