Cataract

Question
Hello,
I am 50 years old and I have to undergo an operation of the eyes on both sides. What do I have to take into account, concerning CF, e.g. antibiotics?
Answer
Hello,
a cataract is not a typical problem of CF. Therefore there are noch specific guidelines for a cataract operation in case of CF. There are however general guidelines for a cataract operation in order to avoid prophylactically infections via corresponding intake of antibiotic drugs. These are followed by all high quality hospitals.
When asking Prof. Dr. Thomas Kohnen, director of the university eye hospital of Frankfurt, Germany, he answered: "Today there is a good schema for the pre-, intra- and postoperative usage of antibiotics after a cataract operation. Furthermore choose a good hospital and surgeon!"
Best regards,
Prof. Dr. TOF Wagner
