compost pile

Question
Hello,

I read in the journal of the french CF association that it was dangerous for a person with cystic fibrosis to live next a compost pile.

My neighbours just installed one, just on the other side of the fence (we have a very small garden so our son is often next to this fence). Is there a risk with this compost pile? Should I ask my neighbors to remove it?

Thank you.
Answer
Hello

It is recommended that your child is near the compost pile when your neighbours are using it in order to avoid inhalation of Aspergillus spores.
Apart from this, the risk is very low.
I also invite you to talk to the team of your CF Center who knows well the health of your child.

Here's an article on the subject appeared in ECORN in 2011:
