Chest physiotherapy with straps for Cystic fibrosis

Question
Hello,
I'm a physiotherapist and I currently care for 2 CF patients.
I want to know if someone has experience with (or written documentation on) chest physiotherapy using straps. I can't find anything about it.
Thank you in advance!
Answer
Hello,
You'll need to look into autegenic drainage at Mr Chevallier, they use straps.
This is a paper on the goals and effects of using a strap: www.ifpek.org/pmb/opac_css/doc_num.php?explnum_id=1270 [in French!]
The idea is to start by getting the patient to work in the deeper volumes and to increase expiration rates. The strap is placed on the lower ribcage at the end of a normal expiration, then the physiotherapy session can begin with the strap on, which also serves a proprioceptive function.
I hope I have answered your question,
