Respiratory signs

Question
Hello,

My one year old CF baby has important digestive symptoms but no respiratory signs, even having had nasopharyngitis, I have not seen significant differences compared to another baby. Do you think the respiratory involvement will be limited or it will appear in the forthcoming years?
Answer
Hello,

Respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms are the main symptoms observed in cystic fibrosis. It is nice to see that your baby does not have more respiratory symptoms than another baby. One should however be careful and not jumping to conclusions: firstly, because respiratory lesions can appear insidiously, on the other hand because it is impossible to predict further evolution. There are indeed many evolutionary profiles of patients. This is the justification to regular monitoring by the multidisciplinary team of specialized CF centers that should allow anticipation for early detection of a change that would require an adjustment of treatment.

Hop this answer can help.
Best wishes
