Rigid chest
- Question
- Why does the rib cage becomes rigid with the years when one has cystic fibrosis?
- Answer
- Hello,
The lung that is permanently inflamed causes a distension of the rib cage.
To breathe better, the supplementary inspiratory muscles work permanently.
This leads to stiffening of the rib cage.
I hope to have answered your question.
