CF

Question
After an amniocentesis the CF mutations DF508 was found in the fetus. My wife does not carry the DF508 and was checked for 89% of CF mutations. I was tested and we await the results. Even if I am a carrier, what are the chances of the baby being a carrier or having CF? Thank you.
Answer
Dear friend,
Your wife had an amniocentesis and the DF508 mutation was traced in the fetus. Your wife was checked for the 89% of CF mutations with negative results?
Why did you have the amniocentesis?
How many CF mutations was the fetus checked for?
It is a certainty that you are a carrier of a CF mutation, just as your child is a known carrier of the DF508 mutation. Regarding your question about the chances of the child having CF, the greater the percentage of CF mutation your wife was checked for and found negative, the greater the chances of the fetus not having CF.
I await your answers,
Yours friendly,
