Pseudomonas in lakes and ponds
- Question
- Dear expert team,
I have a question about the problem germ Pseudomonas: What about the risk with lakes and ponds? My husband likes to go fishing, and I would like to join him together with my son (6 months old, CF). Before I do so, however, I would like to know what kinds of dangers could be involved for my son.
Kind regards. - Answer
- Hello,
You are asking about the dangers involved for you 6-month-old son in going fishing together with your husband.
One has to assume that Pseudomonas germs are always present in stagnant waters. Therefore, your child would run the risk of an infection if he took a large sip of water from a lake like that. If he just sits at the shore with you watching people fish, there is no problem.
Kind regards
