Replacement of tobi
- Question
- Hello. I would like to ask about a new kind of device (as a replacement for tobi) that will be smaller in size (like the one used for salbutamol). I have heard that it may be commercially available in the next 5-6 months. Is it true?
- Answer
- Dear friend,
Presently there are ongoing clinical trials in Europe (with participation of greek patients) investigating the effectiveness of inhaled tobramycin in the form of dry powder. The pharmaceutical company behind this new product is expecting the results, in order to commence the approval procedures in EU and in Greece. After getting in touch with the greek brunch we were unofficially informed that the new product may be commercially available early in 2011, something that cannot be in any way guaranteed due to the time consuming nature of the necessary procedures.
Yours friendly,
Dr. Stavros Doudounakis
