Cystic fibrosis and estrogen

- My doctor suggested I take an oral contraceptive containing estrogen and progesterone to treat a rebel acne.
Is it contraindicated to take estrogen and progesterone whith cystic fibrosis? Is there an increased risk of diabetes?

I didn’t find any recommendation about contraception with cystic fibrosis. It is clear that pregnancy should be planned for a woman with cystic fibrosis so contraception is highly recommended when a defined pregnancy is not planned. Contraception with estrogen and progesterone is used. It is also prescribed for acnea. There is no contraindication apart from some restrictions such as the existence of a poorly controlled diabetes, history of phlebitis or pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension and severe liver disease. A well balanced diabetes in a young person does not contraindicate the use of contraception with estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, in the absence of diabetes, the expected benefits to you outweigh the risks.
