Traces of Staphylococcus?
- Question
- What does "traces of staphylococcus" exactly means? Thank you for the answer.
- Answer
- If you refer to a CF patient's sputum sample, it is the presence of small amounts of Staphylococcus aureus in his sputum and consequently in his lungs. Staphylococcus aureus is the most frequent bacteria found in the lungs of patients with CF (in 62% of patients from the French CF Registry in 2010). Whether or not antibiotic treatment is indicated should be discussed with your doctor.
Best regards.
