Steiner schools

Question
Hello, what do you think about education of a child with cystic fibrosis in a Steiner school? The concept of freedom and openness could be a disadvantage in terms of hygiene and precautions against germs? Thank you
Answer
Hello,
For children with cystic fibrosis, as for all children, the choice of the school, classic or with a different pedagogy, is of course the free choice of the parents, and we have no reason to interfere with it. However, regardless of the choice, it is important to prepare in advance the arrival of your child at school with the educational and medical school team; you can together draft a document called Projet d’Accueil Individualisé, or PAI [this referes to the French origin of the question]. This is an opportunity to inform the school staff of your child's specific needs, and specify the actions to be taken. It is advisable to inquire beforehand about activities proposed during the year, workshops, trips, visits, sports…to adapt recommendations, especially for hygiene.
Your cystic fibrosis center can help you in this process, and thus contribute to a serene school year!
Sincerely
Dr Michèle Gérardin
