Swine flu vaccination during IV therapy?

- Is there a contraindication for swine flu vaccination (Pandemrix®) during (!) an i.v. therapy with tobramycin/ceftazidime (due to chronic Pseudomonas colonization)?

- Hello,
as a rule, a vaccination (influenza or others) should be done at a time of an essentially stable state of health in order, among other things, to minimize side effects or to avoid interactions with other drugs. This is also true for the swine flu vaccination. It is mostly recommended to keep a time interval of about one week between different kinds of vaccinations. Even though you are doing your i.v. therapy prophylactically and not because of a deterioration (not entirely clear from your question), I would tent to finishing the therapy first and then get the swine flu vaccination a few days later.
