Time interval between seasonal influenza and swine flu vaccinations

Question
Dear expert team,
My son, 14 months old, CF, got his flu shot last week. How long should we wait until getting him the swine flu vaccination?

Kind regards.
Answer
Hello,

information on the necessity of and the time intervals between the regular and the swine flu vaccinations differ greatly. In adults, for example, both vaccinations are done on the same day. I would not suggest this for a child, since part of the patients reacts to the swine flu vaccination with somewhat severe side effects. An interval of two weeks after the previous vaccination against the seasonal flu is sufficient, however.

At your son's age, half the vaccination dosage should be administered twice in an interval of 4 weeks.

Kind regards
