Sputum

Ερώτηση
Hello, what are the symptoms of sputum in a baby? Best regards
Απάντηση
Dear questioner,

I suppose you want to talk about exacerbation (= increased symptom intensity) and not sputum?

Exacerbation in young children is not different from that observed in the older children. Most often, exacerbations are due to respiratory viral infections, even when the notion of fever or obvious symptoms of nasopharyngitis is not found, for example. The major symptoms are increased cough, greater bronchopulmonary congestion. Reduced appetite and appearance of respiratory symptoms or wheezing are also possible. When these symptoms take place over a period of time (over 2 or 3 consecutive days), it is recommended to inform the CF team to adapt the treatment. In the case of larger respiratory symptoms, a rapid clinical evaluation may be necessary.
