Day light bath

Question
Hello,

I understand, that the recommendation to open the water taps for 1-2 min in the morning, to flush the toilet and to open the window shortly, is linked to a day light bath. What should I do, if a do not have a day light bath? Just to turn on the air conditioning or is this not effective? Do a have a higher risk, if I have no day light bath?

Many thanks for your answer and best regards.
Answer
Hello,

The recommendation to open the water taps for 1-2 min in the morning, to flush the toilet and to open the window shortly should eliminate high P. aeruginosa cell numbers in the tubings by flushing, in order to minimize the risk of P. aeruginosa aerosols. Thus, the recommendation is independent of a day light bath.
The most important thing is to let the water run, not so important is the fact that a window has to be opened. If there is no possibility to open the window or to let fresh air in via another way, the CF patient should quit the room for 5 minutes after having opnened the water taps and after having flushed the toilet until the aerosoles containing Pseudomonas have come down.
