Our physician told us about a new research protocol calling IGY IMPACTT ... from a Swedish laboratory. The treatment is made from egg yolk, to combat Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

- The trial IMPACTT aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy and tolerance of antibody IgY against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) in the prevention and treatment of recurrent infections with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, in patients with cystic fibrosis.
This international clinical trial, will soon start in France. 180 patients (of six participating European countries) with cystic fibrosis, may participate. After randomization, patient will receive daily treatment:
- IgY antibodies against Pseudomonas, administered by gargling
- or placebo, administered also by gargling
The treatment will be administered blindly, that is to say that neither the doctor nor the patient know which treatment has been assigned.
Treatment will continue until PA infection. In any case the treatment can last more than two years.
Antibodies are produced by immunization of hens with PA bacteria. These hens then produce antibodies against PA which are transferred to the egg yolk in high concentration.
