My 13 years old cystic fibrosis daughter has candida albicans fungus. I would like to know the treatment knowing she is under itraconazole for aspergillus.

The candida fungus is normally present on mucous membrane especially on digestive and genital mucous membrane. So it is frequent to find Candida in sputum without pathological signification, by buccal contamination. There is no indication to treat.
However, if when taking antibiotics, she presents buccal candidosis which gives white tongue and pain when eating, it is necessary to treat. Most often, mouthwash with amphotericin B are sufficient. Genital candidosis with itching and pain could be seen too and is locally treated by cream.
It is possible to treat orally by fluconazole if the affection is important and touch the double localization.
