Inheritance of CF

Question
Dear experts,
can you tell me, if a child of parents, both suffering from CF, will be born with CF in any case? Or is there a chance that such a child will be born healthy or as a carrier?

Best regards,
Answer
Hello,
in case both parents are suffering from CF, every child they have together will suffer from CF itself.
Background: In case of autosomal-recessive illnesses like CF, patients do have two mutated genes (CFTR), from which one is inherited from the father and one from the mother. Because every human being has only two CFTR-genes, which both show the mutation in case of CF patients, children from two CF-patients can only inherit mutated CFTR-genes and will therefore suffer from CF in any case.
Yours sincerely,
