CF and healthy carrier

Question
What is the concept of healthy carrier?
Answer
Hello,
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder called "recessive", ie it takes to receive from each parent a mutated gene to express the symptoms of the disease. People with only one gene, as parents of children with cystic fibrosis, for example are called "healthy carriers". They are not sick but can pass the gene, and if the other parent is also a healthy carrier, the risk for each conception is 25%.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sophie Ravilly
