- I have a three year old child with low growth. The sweat test was done in Thessaloniki and it was negative (16), as well as the mutation check for the mother in Laiko Hospital. Are there any other things to do to exclude CF? Thank you.

When you say that your child has low growth you mean that it does not gain weight in a safisfactory way.
When a child does not gain weight satisfactorily therer can be many causes. One of them can be Cystic Fibrosis (CF), due to the pancreatic insufficiency that is present in 85% of the subjects with CF. The result is smelly and fatty feces and these subjects do not gain weight.
Based on the sweat test of your child the value is definitely normal (Cl=16mol/lt, assumed that the chloride concentration in the sweat was measured by pilocarpine ionotophoresis in an experienced center) and you should not concern yourself at all about your child having CF. Your paediatrician must seek elsewhere for the causes of low growth.
