Caryotype check and CF

Question
Due to miscarriages I was checked for CF at Laiko Hospital [Greece] with negative results. My doctor sent abroad a blood sample for caryotype analysis and it came back fine. Is there any relation between the caryotype check and CF? Do I need to be tested further for CF, or am I covered by the analysis at Laiko?
Answer
Dear friend,
The caryotype analysis has absolutely no relation to CF. Your doctor, due to the miscarriages, asked for a caryotype check and for a check for CF.
Since you have undergone a genetic analysis for the most frequent CF mutations at Laiko Hospital [Greece], and it was negative, you are covered and you should not concern yourself with the probability of CF.
Yours friendly,
Dr. Stavros Doudounakis
