Sweat test and Seretide®

Question
I would like to ask if the inhalation therapy with salmeterol (long-lasting beta-memetics) and fluticasone in Seretide® can affect the result of the sweat test (ours was 26).
Answer
Dear friend,
I would like to inform you that the administration of inhaled Seretide® cannot affect the result of the sweat test.
A value of 26 for the sweat test is in any case normal if it has been performed in an expereienced center using pilocarpine-ionotophoresis measuring the chloride concentration in the sweat.
Yours friendly,
Dr. Anna Katelari
