Hygiene

Question
I have heard once, that study data on the question of infection with Pseudmonas in the household (e.g. via wet tooth brushes, flowerpots) is sparse and no statements on the risk of an infection can be made. In the field of hospital stays however, there would be much more studies on the risk of infection. Therefore, hygienic measures in the private field should e.g. differ substantially from those at a hospital stay. Do you agree on this?
Answer
Dear questioner,

it is correct, that the amount of data on potential sources of infection and risks of transmission is much higher with regard to the hospital field as with regard to the houshold field resp. the private surroundings. While in former times transmissions in case of CF e.g. in the hospital, resp. at stays of convalescent care were frequent, transmissions in the frame of hospital stays resp. ambulant visits have become extremely seldom today due to strict hygienic measures and strict segregation of patients with problematic germs. An actual guideline of the commission for hospital hygiene and infection prevention (KRINKO) summerizes recommendations on the hygienic behaviour in case of CF on the basis of the latest knowledge in the field of hospital, physiotherapy but also daily life. [translators comment: this is a German question and a German guideline, therefore the concrete link is left out]. I would like to point at this guideline.
