Asbestos

- Hello,
We are parents of a girl with CF, aged 2 years. We will move soon and have discovered that the roof of a house extension (7m2) is covered with corrugated fiber cement containing asbestos as well as a vent in the attic. The diagnosis shows that it is in good condition, but we wonder if we still need to remove it (of course by an approved company) or if a formwork may be sufficient. Thank you for your response. The risk of asbestos on health is linked to the inhalation of asbestos dust which may cause long-term respiratory failure because of pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer or cancer of the pleura (mesothelioma).
Cement incorporated asbestos, as seems to be your roof, is inert asbestos which will not be released as dust. So it is not necessary to demolish it. This is probably the same for your vent which is in good condition and is not located in a place where you are staying. Formwork seems sufficient.
